Flood victims in the Volta Region could heave a huge sigh of relief after promises by the Regional Minister to ameliorate the extent of damage and suffering.
Joseph Amenowude is leading the Roads and Transport Minister, Joe Gidisu and officials of the National Disaster Management Authority (NADMO) to the ravaged towns and villages in the region to provide the necessary relief to the residents.
The Minister told Joy News they will visit North and South Tongu, Adaklu and other areas which appear to be worst hit.
Farms have been completely submerged with a few household displaced, Joy News has learnt.
The Minister said: “Some of the devastation has been on road infrastructure, on food producing areas and so that is why we are going with the road experts to look at what has been destroyed so that we can give quick attention so that come to the aid for the farmers”.
He said officials of NADMO will also distribute relief items to the affected residents.
The Region in the last few days has experienced heavy rainfall which has caused heavy floods and swept many farm lands and houses away.
