CAF Champions League winner, Afful Harrison has made it into the starting line-up of the Black Stars after a two-year absence.
The in-form defender has earned the left-back position in Ghana's World Cup Qualifier against Lesotho at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium, Friday.
Former Kpando Heart of Lion, and a Ghana youth international Jerry Akamenko also earned a spot in the starting line-up and will man the central defence with John Boye.
The absence of Black Star's talisman, Asamoah Gyan means Kwasi Appiah has to count on relatively new strikers to bang in the goals.
Dominic Adiyiah who plies his trade for Arsenal Kyiev, Ukraine will be expected to lead the onslaught against the Crocodiles of Lesotho.
Old guns Sulley Muntari, Kwadwo Asamoah, and Emmanuel Agyemang Badu also earn their places in the starting line-up.
The match against Lesotho will be Akwasi Appiah's first competitive match in charge of the Black Stars.
Here is full line-up of the Black Stars:
Adam Kwarasey, Samuel Inkoom, Harrison Afful, Jerry Akamenko, John Boye, Derek Boateng, Dominic Adiyiah, Emmanuel Agyemang Badu, Jordan Ayew, Kwadwo Asamoah, Sulley Ali Muntari.
Meanwhile, ex-Black Stars captain Stephen Appiah is backing the Stars for victory in the opening World Cup qualifier against Lesotho.
Stephen Appiah, who was speaking to Joy Sports on MultiTV shortly after touching down at the Kumasi Airport, was however convinced the match will be a difficult game for the Stars.
He admitted that Coach Akwasi Appiah will be under some degree of pressure but said that it is normal, especially when the game will be played at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi where the atmosphere is always electrifying.
Touching on his performance in Serbia, Tornado described the stint as "unbelievable" but was evasive when asked if he will return to the Black Stars.
"You can never say never, but it is going to be difficult," he said.
