The University Teachers Association of Ghana (UTAG) says it is ready to offer technical advise to the board and management of the Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT) to find suitable solutions for non-performing assets.
According to the General Secretary of UTAG, Dr Eliasu Mumuni, the association is committed to offering the needed assistance to SSNIT to help it deal with the challenges.
Speaking on JoyFM's Top Story he said “Engagement with us is welcomed and we are ready to also offer quite several alternatives. Not to say that we want stakeholders to be at the forefront of running the operations and day-to-day administration of SSNIT.

"Not at all, but when it comes to these things that in our attempt to provide a permanent solution to dealing with SSNIT and its challenges. We should be interested in once a while being engaged to support the process," he said on July 15.
His comments come on the back of the Board Chair of SSNIT, Elizabeth Ohene, signing the termination letter concerning the cancellation of the intended sale of a 60% stake in four of SSNIT's hotels to a private hotel owned by Ghana's Minister of Food and Agriculture, Bryan Acheampong.
Her signature finalises the decision to halt the transaction, which had sparked significant controversy and opposition from various stakeholders.
SSNIT's initial statement on Friday, July 12, without Elizabeth Ohene's signature, indicated the termination of the sale process.
Following the termination organised labour along with other bodies called off its strike which took place today, July 15 to compel SSNIT to terminate the sale.
Prior to this, the teacher union called for the resignation of the board and its members for mismanagement of the asset.
Meanwhile, members of the UTAG will return to post tomorrow, July 16 in line with the directives of organised labour.
Organised labour has since given SSNIT a month to address its concerns.
