Outgoing country director of World Food Program (WFP), Ismail Omar, has appealed to Ghanaians not to engage in any act that will destroy the peace in the country.

Ismail Omar said these during a short farewell ceremony at the Flagstaff House in Accra.

He told President Mahama the peaceful atmosphere in Ghana made the World Food Program set up its West African humanitarian hub in Ghana.

President Mahama expressed the country’s gratitude to the World Food Program for the numerous support they have given the country. He promised his commitment to ensuring the country remains peaceful.

“Whatever government can do to support the World Food Programme, to facilitate its work and make its work and make its work easy here in our country we will do”, President Mahama stated.

He told the President he enjoyed his work in Ghana and leaves with mixed feelings.

WFP is the food assistance branch of the United Nations (UN), and it is the world’s largest humanitarian organisation addressing hunger.
