Zambia' s female boxing sensation Catherine Phiri said she was now eyeing the higher version of the World Boxing Council (WBC) as her next target, the Times of Zambia reported on Monday.
Phiri, who was crowned WBC Silver Female bantamweight champion on Saturday after knocking out Germany' s Pia Mazelanik in the third round, said she was still hungry for more success but that she wanted the WBC proper bantamweight title currently held by Australia Susie Ramadan.
"I am happy that I have now got a third belt but I am not done yet. I want to challenge Susie Ramadan for the WBC proper title and then I would have achieved my goal and can think about hanging up the gloves," she was quoted as saying by the paper.
Phiri, who also holds the African Boxing Union (ABU) bantamweight title and the World Professional Boxing Federation (WPBF) title, said she was happy to be a world champion, especially a WBC champion and added that she had expected more from her opponent.
"Honestly, I expected more from Pia but I am not complaining. I am happy I won and I can look forward now for greater things," she added.
The 22-year-old Zambian boxer, who has fought eight professional fights with no loss or draw, twice brought the German to the canvass in the second round before knocking her out in the third round.
