Two armed robbers were killed last night during a shoot-out with the police on the Accra-Aflao highway. Seven other accomplices have been arrested.
It followed a tip-off that the robbers were planning to attack passengers on two bus enroute to Ghana from Nigeria.
Acting Police Public Relations Officer of the Tema Region, Corporal Joseph Baradu told Joy News the police returned fire when the suspects, believed to be Fulanis, fired first at a check point.
He said the police stopped the suspects at emergency barrier they erected but the suspected robber ignored the orders to stop and instead, opened fire resulting in the exchange of fire.
