The 2012 New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary candidate for Prestea Huni/Valley constituency, Mrs. Anastasia Wiredu Mensah, is dead.
According to a family member, Mr. Abiam Danso, she died in the early hours of Thursday after giving birth to twins at the Sunyani Government Hospital.
The two babies are in stable condition and are under observation at the hospital.
The NPP constituency chairman, Mr. Peter Arthur, described the death as a great loss to the party and called on the party members and the deceased family to remain calm.
A statement signed by the National Democratic Congress constituency secretary, Mr. Matthew Aryeh, expressed condolence to the bereaved family.
The late Mrs. Mensah died at the age of 43.
She contested the parliamentary election in 2012 but lost to Mr. Francis Adu-Blay Koffie.
