South African based satellite television company AFRI-SAT has been confirmed as the rights holder for the new Premier League season.
The company paid around $750,000 to the Ghana Football Association for the exclusive rights to produce and sell this year’s Onetouch Premier League.
The deal with Ghana is the first of eleven intended partnerships by the company over Africa. The Chief Executive of AFRI-SAT Rene William Huevee told Joy News Ghanaian football has the right profile to market to the international community.
He agreed that football on the continent does no longer enjoy its enthusiastic following but was hopeful strategic marketing would restore the shine.
As a prelude to their operations in Ghana, AFRI-SAT has paid a further $175,000 to the GFA to be broadcast sponsors for the four-nation football tournament involving the Black Stars next month.
