The Appointments Committee of Parliament has begun vetting the ministerial nominees selected by President John Dramani Mahama.
The event is moving forward in spite of a decision by minority MPs to boycott the event.
These New Patriotic Party (NPP) MPs maintain that participating in the vetting of appointees of a president whose election the party is challenging in court would only serve to legitimize him.
Some of the nominees expected to be vetted are: Prof. Nana Jane Opoku Agyemang, Minister-designate for Education, Seth Terpker, Minister-designate for Finance, Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, Minister-designate Communications, Collins Dauda, Minister-designate for Works & Housing Ministry as well as Hanna Tetteh, Minister-designate for Foreign Affairs.
Among those doing the vetting are Appointments Committee Chairman Ebo Barton Oduro and Deputy Chairman Alfred Agbesi, the MPs for Cape Coast North and Ashaiman, respectively, as well as Tamale Central MP Haruna Iddrisu, Ledjorkuku MP Benita Okiti-Dua, North Tongu MP Samuel Okudzeto-Ablakwa, Agotime-Ziope MP Juliana Azuma Mensah, and Bawku Central MP Mahama Ayariga.
