On Wednesday, irate men stormed the Metro Office of the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS), drove staff out of their offices and locked the doors with their own padlocks.
The trespassers, who numbered about eight and are believed to be aggrieved National Democratic Congress foot soldiers, said they were protesting Patrick Kuagbenu’s appointment as NHIS Metro Scheme Manager.
At the time this report was filed, some police and military personnel had been deployed to the scene, where the perpetrators were nowhere to be found.
Tamale Metro Chief Executive Alhaji Harruna Abdulai Friday expressed surprise as he briefed the media on the incident.
He said police had broken the locks and have been detailed to guard the place until peace and security returns.
Alhaji Friday also reported that investigators have ascertained information on those involved in the disturbances and that once arrested, they will be dealt with as the law requires.
