Former New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament for Asikuma-Odoben-Brakwa, Mr Paul Collins Appiah Ofori, has accused state prosecutors of complacency in the prosecution of the judgement debt case involving Mr Alfred Woyome.In his opinion, the lawyers were only seeking to delay the trial.According to him, the case was being delayed because people from the Attorney General's Department could be implicated.State prosecutors in the judgement debt case of businessman Woyome once again failed to produce witnesses to testify in court last Tuesday. The case was adjourned to February 28.Mr Woyome is facing two counts of defrauding by false pretence and causing financial loss to the state.Speaking on Citi FM, Mr Appiah Ofori noted that the delay was putting Mr Woyome in a very difficult position because his assets had been frozen by the state.“I agree with Woyome because if there is something he has to do, he is unable to do it and if he wants to travel to do anything, you cannot travel because it may mean that you’ll run away,” he said.“As I have said, the people who are prosecuting are those who are privy to the whole fraud and the man is ready to mention the names. Because of this, they are dragging their feet,” Mr Appiah Ofori added.He stated that the best thing the prosecutors could do was to finish the case quickly so that Mr Woyome could live his normal life.
