The Akatsi-South Constituency branch of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has dismissed allegations of cheating at the recent bye-election in the constituency as “frivolous.”
Mr Bernard Ahiafor, 39, a Lawyer, won that bye election on the ticket of the NDC with 12,079 votes as against 8,312 votes by Mr Evans Djikunu.
“Mr Evans Djikunu’s claims that Electoral Commission collaborated with the NDC to rob and take victory away from him are unmeritorious, and a show of dishonesty,” the party stated.
Mr Daniel Dagba, NDC Constituency Secretary, said this during a press-conference on Sunday.
Mr Dagba debunked allegations by Mr Djikunu that fake results from two non-existing polling stations, Zones 3 and 7 were smuggled into the collation centre by the NDC functionaries to overturn his victory.
He produced all 91 pink-sheets said to have results of all 91 polling stations in the constituency and challenged Mr Djikunu to produce copies of pink-sheets, signed by his agents for public scrutiny.
Mr Dagba advised Mr Djikunu to concede defeat and stop his ill-fated campaigns.
The bye-election was necessitated due to the election and elevation of Mr Doe Adjaho, the incumbent MP of the Constituency, as Speaker of Parliament.
Mr Djikunu also contested the 2012 parliamentary election in the constituency as an independent candidate.
