Mr Kofi Adams, the suspended Deputy General Secretary of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) has been reinstated.
This followed a meeting by the National Executive Committee of the party held at Madina in Accra on Monday.
He was suspended both as an executive and a member of the NDC after a secret tape emerged on which he was allegedly heard plotting with a leading member of the opposition party, Gabby Asare Otchere-Darko to ensure the NDC loses the 2012 elections.
In a statement issued Monday, Mr Adams said “... a decision was taken to reinstate me as full member of the party.”
“It has been a very difficult twelve months during which I have faced many trials from some elements within the very party I have dedicated most of my life to.
“What held me together was my unwavering belief in the true ideals of the NDC...” he added.
Kofi Adams, who insisted he was “innocent of the charges preferred against me,” said “I bear no grudge against anyone in the party and will continue working towards the achievement of even higher goals for our party and government”.
He expressed gratitude to “all my sympathisers around the country for their genuine show of love and concern during the period”.
“My special gratitude also goes to His Excellency Jerry John Rawlings for giving me the strength to carry on when matters nearly got out of hand”.
