The Student Representative Councils for the University of Ghana, Legon, University of Cape Coast and the University for Development Studies, Tamale, have congratulated Samuel Okuzeto Ablakwa, on his nomination as deputy Education Minister designate.
In a joint statement issued by Edmond Kombat, Boateng Enock and Awudu A. Kantong on behalf of the SRCs for the three respective universities expressed confidence in Mr. Ablakwa, a former President for National Union of Ghana Students.
They are of the conviction that as a former students’ advocate, Mr. Okudzeto Ablakwa will work hard to resolve some pressing issues students face on the various campuses.
“We are hopeful that he is still conversant with the challenges students faced at his time and what pertains now.
The statement said: “While at the Ministry of Education, we would like him to continuously remind his Minister of the need for transformation in our educational sector to suit national development needs and offer every support towards the attainment of such”.
“As a matter of urgency we wish that he gives huge attention to the two sets of final year students who are sitting the WASSCE exams this year, taking pragmatic steps to avert any inconveniences that may come with respect to admissions into the Universities”.
