Irate youth believed to be supporters of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) have since Friday locked up offices of the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) in the Savelugu district of the Northern region.Multi TV’s Northern regional correspondent, Hashmin Mohamed, who confirmed the incident to Joy News, said the youth were protesting the appointment of three NHIS scheme management personnel, who were not natives of the area. The youth, he added, registered their displeasure at the appointments to the District Chief Executive (DCE) who assured that within three days, he was going to contact the NHIS office in Accra for natives of the area to be given the job.The police, Hashmin said, met with the Chief of Savelugu to resolve the issue but the outcome is still unknown.According to him, there are fears that staff of the scheme may not be able to use the office on Monday because the irate youth are still holding on to the keys of the office.
