Mr Solomon Donkor, Jasikan District Chief Executive on Tuesday said government did not launch the National Health Insurance Scheme for political reasons.
Rather it was a genuine scheme to enable all Ghanaians to enjoy the full benefits of basic medical care, he added.
Mr Donkor said this when addressing members a fund raising ceremony of the Evangelical Presbyterian Church choir at Kwamikrom.
He said reports reaching his office indicated that a number of citizens who at the beginning of the Scheme rejected it on political grounds were now registering after knowing that it was not a political gimmick.
Mr Donkor advised the choir members to patronize the scheme and reap its full benefits.
He pledged an amount of GH¢200 towards the purchase of the choir robes for which the fundraising was held.
Other sister choirs from Jasikan and Hohoe also participated in the ceremony, which bagged GH¢650.
