Minister for Lands and Forestry, Alhaji Inusah Fuseini is urging the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Vice Presidential candidate in the 2012 elections, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia to take up the job offer from African Development Bank (AFDB), to restore "his little credibility" as a politician.
Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has been appointed to head the Uganda Office of the African Development Bank (AFDB).
The Minister said that Dr. Bawumia as a politician "has been a disaster" who has been " trying to be someone he is not ". He believes the job will help restore the little credibility he has left since engaging in active politics from 2008.
The Member of Parliament for Tamale acknowledged on Metro TV that the two time Vice Presidential candidate of the NPP has been largely successful as a renowned banker and a statistician.
In the Minister's opinion, Dr. Bawumia's appointment "exposes a fallacy of the petition". He wondered why Bawumia, the star witness "presiding over the investigation" into "alleged malpractices" would insist that evidence of the petitioners was "mind boggling" and yet find reason to "invoke a process to get a job".
Alhaji Fuseini urged him to nonetheless take the job and wished him well.
But Anthony Karbo, former National Youth Organiser of the NPP insisted that Bawumia is yet to consider the appointment after the presidential election petition has been fully exhausted.
He said his appointment did nothing to undermine the petition because Bawumia remains "fully committed" to the election petition. He expressed his lack of surprise in view of Dr. Bawumia's international credentials.
This would be the second time that Dr Bawumia would pick up appointment with AfDB.
Before accepting to partner Nana Akufo-Addo during the 2012 election, Dr Bawumia was the Resident Representative of the bank in the Zimbabwe country office.
