The legal team of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the ongoing election petition hearing has served notice they will question results declared in the opposition stronghold of Ashanti region and others.
Lawyer for the NDC, Tsatsu Tsikata on Tuesday secured a ruling that allowed him to introduce pink sheets not tendered in evidence by the petitioners.
Speaking to Joy News, a leading member of the party’s legal team, Nana Ato Dadzie said they will now use the court’s ruling as a basis to introduce evidence about the conduct of the 2012 polls in the New Patriotic Party (NPP) stronghold of Ashanti and Eastern Region.
“We also want to know the Ashanti votes… we want to know what results came out from Eastern region...” Ato Dadzie insisted.
Meanwhile, a member of the NPP legal team Gloria Akufo has indicated her team will object to any bulk production of pink sheets outside those already before the court.
“If they are allowed to tender them (new pink sheets), it means that we are being surprised.
“The essence of producing these documents before the hearing is to enable the other parties to have advantage of what these documents contain and to enable you to prepare adequately a response…”
Tsatsu Tsikata will this morning continue his cross examination of NPP 2012 running mate Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia, marking day 13 of the hearing.
