Four police officers in the Eastern Region have been put behind bars for losing their AK47 rifles given them for night duty.One of the officers is reported to have said he only woke up to realize the gun had been taken away whilst he was sleeping at Akwadum barrier, near Koforidua.Deputy Eastern Region Police Commander, ACP James Azumah Abass, told Joy News investigations have commenced into the matter.He said the officers could be dismissed if investigations prove they were at fault.ACP James Azumah Abass said the police is currently taking independent statements from the officers to ascertain if there was collusion.He stated it is a serious matter for a police to lose his or her weapon while on duty.
