The President in consultation with the Council of State has appointed Mr. Mohammed Ahmed Alhassan as the Inspector General of Police (IGP) of the Ghana Police Service (GPS).
A press release signed by Mr. Kwesi Ahwoi, the Minister for the Interior, said Mr. Alhassan was to be the substantive Inspector General of Police (IGP) effective May 7, 2013.
Mr. Alhassan is expected to discharge his duties in accordance with the 1992 constitution of the Republic of Ghana.
He said that this is to promote law and order in the country as well as enhance the image of the Ghana Police Service (GPS).
Mr. Ahwoi congratulated the new IGP and encouraged him to uphold the principles to secure the country from both internal and external attacks.
