The latest to be put on Presiding judge Justice William Atuguba's wanted list are Stephen Atubiga, Kwaku Boahen, both of the NDC and Ken Kuranchie, Managing Editor of the Daily Searchlight newspaper.
The court hearing the Presidential Election Petition returned from lunch break to unexpectedly announce the list and issued instruction for these persons to appear before court to defend some comments they made on the case.
Mr. Atubiga is wanted for purportedly making contemptuous statements on 25 June this year on Asempa FM, an Accra-based radio station.
Atubiga contributing to a political discussion on Asempa FM said that Ghana cannot contain all of us if NPP wins the court case.
Kwaku Boahen, who is also the Ashanti Regional Youth Organiser of the governing National Democratic Congress, is believed to have made similar comments on Angel FM and Boss FM in Kumasi.
Boahen said the party will not sit down and allow the Supreme Court of Ghana to overturn the results of the election in favour of the opposition New Patriotic Party.
“Do you think NDC will sit aloof and watch the court hand over power to the NPP, never! It will never happen in Ghana and anyone can mark it on the wall,” he ranted.
Ken Kuranchie is to answer to a front page comment published on the Thursday 27 June 2013 edition of his newspaper.
They are to appear before the court on 2nd July 2013 at 10:00am.
In view of the court action banning Sammy Awuku, deputy communications director of the NPP from attending court proceedings for contemptuous comments which he withdrew and apologised for, it is likely that the three persons may face contempt charges.
