The New Statesman has apologised to readers for a wrong impression created by a story that caused Kwaku Boahen to be summoned before court Tuesday.
Kwaku Boahen was among three persons summoned by the court for possible contemptuous comments.
The New Statesman reported that Boahen said the party will not sit down and allow the Supreme Court of Ghana to overturn the results of the election in favour of the opposition New Patriotic Party.
But the NDC man appeared in court to deny ever making the alleged remark.
He said the publication was "false". He pointed to the Managing editor of the newspaper Gabby Asare Otchere-Darko and said the court should "thoroughly investigate" the issue.
The newspaper had published a correction to this effect.
Reproduced here is the correction by the newspaper.

With reference to our front-page story of Thursday, June 27, 2013, carried under the banner headline “2012election petition Hearing, WE WILL NOT HAND OVER, NDC members Tell Supreme Court,” our attention has been drawn to the fact that the comments by the Ashanti Regional Youth Organiser of the National Democratic Congress, Kwaku Boahen, was made before Justices, had given the final warning against unaccepted commentaries and reportage.
We have been made to understand that the comments we heard and captured in our story was a replay of what he had said previously, and not comments he made on Angel FM at the same time Stephen Atubiga was making similar comments on Asempa FM.
Information furnished us from Angel FM in Kumasi indicates that he made the comments on Wednesday, June 12, 2013.
We regret the wrong impression created by our story and apologise accordingly to our cherished readers and all concerned.
