Vice President Kwesi Bekoe Amissah-Arthur on Sunday arrived in Abuja, Nigeria, to attend an African Union (AU) special summit on HIV/AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria.
The summit is on the theme: “Ownership, accountability and sustainability of HIV and AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria response in Africa: past, present and future.”
The summit would review efforts of the continent in addressing HIV and AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria and their impact on health, financing and government systems.
“It will also look at the status of maternal newborn and child health on the continent as well as efforts aimed at achieving the health-related millennium development goals and defining Africa’s health priorities,” a statement from the office of the Vice President, said.
It said the summit would also dialogue on the post 2015 development agenda as it unfolds.
Vice President Amissah-Arthur would also hold a number of bilateral meetings on the sidelines of the summit.
He is expected back on Tuesday.
