Police in the Northern region yesterday engaged the leadership of the various political parties in the region to work towards sensitizing their supporters to accept the outcome of the election petition before the Supreme Court.
The meeting was attended by the leadership of all the parties including that of the NDC and the NPP.
Regional Commander DCOP Ken Yeboah told Joy News the parties have agreed to control their supporters.
He observed that there is a possibility that people will "over jubilate" about the outcome of the election petition which can "lead to violence so we talked to them about peace".
In another development, Ashanti regional police command is calling on indigenes who have arms in their possession to tender them in for regularization.
The police over the weekend found 130 live cartridges in an uncompleted building occupied by suspects in a motorbike theft case.
Security experts have raised concerns about the discovery of arms and ammunition in the region in recent times, fearing it could be politically motivated.
Ashanti regional police PRO ASP Mohammed Tanko says indigenes must help the police regularize guns in the region.
