Former Communications Director at the Presidency under the Mills administration, Koku Anyidoho says Ghana will remain peaceful after the verdict of the Supreme Court on the election petition. According to him it is not in the interest of any Ghanaian to take the path of violence. He was speaking on Asempa FM, Tuesday. The petition hearing is gradually coming to an end after the Supreme Court judges directed the parties to file their addresses by July 31. The judges by law are expected to give their verdict 15 days after the case ends. Speaking on Asempa FM’s Ekosii-Sen on Tuesday, Koku Anyodoho noted that contempt charges meted to some individuals of the state by the Supreme Court show there are laws and institutions in the country to take on lawless people in the country. He charged Ghanaians to embrace the message of peace and not threats or insults ahead of the election petition verdict. “It is my believe that Ghana will remain peaceful after the Supreme Court’s verdict. As a Ghanaian, I don’t think any citizen will want to destroy the little we have. I believe nobody will take up arms after the verdict. The way the Supreme Court stamped its authority through contempt charges should tell all of us that there are laws in this country and that nobody can misbehave” he stated. The close ally to the late president noted that president Mills’ clarion call for peace in the country during his tenure is even more relevant today than ever, so Ghanaians should embrace peace.
