The Ghana Tourist Board says it will begin a process to close down all strip tease clubs in the country by the end of this week.
The board says strip tease is illegal.
The acting Executive Director, Martin Mireku who disclosed this to JOY News said the board reached an agreement with operators of the clubs and the police last year that, that strip tease should not be part of their operations.
JOY NEWS broke the news last week of how night clubs in the capital were using nude ladies as the latest attraction, sparking off debate among lawyers over the legality of strip tease in the country.
Contributing to the debate, the Executive Director of Abantu for Development, Dr. Rose Kutin said a ban on these clubs was not practicable.
She would rather the existing legislations for the tourism and entertainment industries were strengthened to deter people from venturing into the business in the first place.
But in a swift response to the call, Mr. Mireku said the Tourist Board would rather close down those clubs instead.
