President Mahama says the first presidential library in honor of Professor Atta Mills will be used for research activities to improve upon political governance on the African continent.
Describing the late president as a great academician, President Mahama noted he could not have been honoured in a better way than with the construction of a research library.
He says the library would also serve as a research point on the legacies of other great leaders of the African continent.
President Mahama was speaking at a ceremony to lay the foundation stone for the John Evans Atta Mills Research Library project in the Central regional capital, Cape Coast.
He said the library will "immortalize the name of a worthy son... who gave so much to his motherland".
The president also assured the people of Cape Coast of the continuation of two projects started by the late president in the town: Kotokuraba market and sports stadium.
President Mahama later laid a foundation stone for the library project.
