The youth wing of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the UK/Ireland, has condemned what it describes as the " wanton desecration of the integrity of our country's judiciary" by the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP).
According to the NDC youth wing, the NPP's planned demonstration in London ahead of the Supreme Court's verdict on the petition challenging the results of the 2012 presidential election, is "gravely selfish" and "denigrative of the good name of Ghana".
Some supporters of the UK Chapter of the opposition party are reported to have planned a demonstration purposefully “to help strengthen the hands of the nine-member panel of Supreme Court justices sitting on Election 2012 case.
The NDC group however sees this move by the NPP as a plot to interfere in the independence of the judiciary.

PRESS RELEASE
UK IRELAND NDC YOUTH CONDEMNS THE NPP's TREACHERY AGAINST GHANA IN LONDON.
We wish to condemn a demonstration purportedly being organised by the UK Chapter of the New Patriotic Party “to help strengthen the hands of the nine-member panel of Supreme Court justices sitting on Election 2012 case."
While we recognise the rights and duties of all Ghanaians to uphold Freedom and Justice, we collectively abhor the wanton desecration of the integrity of our country's judiciary by this group of unpatriotic and ill-advised individuals.
If our judicial institutions, including the Supreme Court, are to live up to their billing as prescribed in the Constitution and other regulatory frameworks, their independence from interference and freedom from intimidation must be guaranteed by all.
We therefore find the latest attempt by the New Patriotic Party to organise a demonstration in London in spite of the fact that a verdict is yet to be delivered in the 2012 electoral petition as not only denigrative of the good name of Ghana but gravely selfish.
Their suggestion that "there can never be any sustainable peace in Ghana without first having JUSTICE reigning Supreme" is a clear indication of the New Patriotic Party's warped understanding that 'justice is one-directional' in their favour.
We want to assure the New patriotic Party and its allies-in-arms working against the good name of Ghana that no matter what they do or say; no matter how many times they throw themselves about in front of the international community and no matter how far they go to intimidate the able men and women upholding Freedom and Justice, “Ghana will not die; Ghana will live to give glory and thanks to our maker and creator the almighty God."
We appeal to all well-meaning Ghanaians to shun any attempt to coerce them into supporting the parochial interests of these unpatriotic individuals. We owe it to our fore- fathers "to uphold and defend the good name of Ghana".
May God bless our homeland Ghana.
