Joy FM’s Reverend Jonathan Kwadwo Asiedu-Otibu will leave Accra on Tuesday to participate in this year’s International Visitor Leadership Program in the United States.
A US Embassy invitation extended Pastor Jonathan, as Reverend Asiedu-Otibu is widely known, for the program congratulated him for his selection.
“Once again, we congratulate you on your selection to participate in the International Visitor Leadership Program. You are an International Visitor and an important guest of the US Government”, it said.
The invitation said Pastor Jonathan will participate in a 3-week fully funded professional study tour.
“This particular program is referred to as multi-regional (or MRP) because there will be participants from 11 different countries across the world.”
The program, under the theme: Religion and the Community, seeks to build mutual understanding through communication at the personal and professional levels.
The International Visitor Leadership Program annually brings to the United States approximately 5,000 foreign nationals from all over the world to meet and confer with their professional counterparts and to experience America firsthand.
It achieves its objectives through carefully designed visits that reflect visitors’ professional interests and support the foreign policy goals of the US Department of State and its embassies abroad.
Pastor Jonathan is attending the leadership program as a Grant Visitor and will be away for a month. While there, he would visit Washington DC, Pennsylvania, Indiana, New Mexico and California among others.
President J.A. Kufuor and Defence Minister Kwame Addo Kufuor are among a number of Ghanaians who previously participated in the programme as Grant Visitors or Grantees.
Reverend Asiedu-Otibu, who started work with Joy FM as a Gospel music presenter, currently hosts two of Joy FM’s religious programmes; ‘Joy Quiet Time’ and ‘A Walk With Jesus’.
In his absence, Pastor Kwabena Karikari Marfo will host the “Joy Quiet Time” while Kofi Ansah will take charge of “A Walk With Jesus”.
