A member of the opposition New Patriotic Party's (NPP) Communications Team, Hopeson Adorye says he felt like a "small boy" when he got to the Supreme Court and saw the Coat of Arms on the wall.
“When my eyes first flashed on the Coat of Arms, I said to myself yes this is power...my first appearance in the Supreme Court actually reduced me to the minutest thing ever to exist in the world.”
Speaking on Burning Issues program Wednesday on Adom FM, Adorye said “I thought NPP was a big party, but upon appearing before the court I realized my party was just a small thing in Ghana”.
The Supreme Court found Adorye and General Secretary NPP, Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie a.k.a Sir John guilty of intentional criminal contempt, but the both escaped custodial sentence unlike two others before them.
The two were slammed with a total fine of GH¢7,000, which another leading party member, P.C Appiah Ofori paid for them.
Adorye expressed his profound gratitude to former Attorney General Joseph Ayikoi-Otoo for saving him and Sir John from going to jail, saying that “I am from today going to be advertising for lawyer Ayikoi-Otoo to the whole world that he is indeed a good lawyer that everyone can fall on for legal aid.”
He commended the nine-member panel of judges for their “steadfastness and judicial temperament.”
Adorye also said it was refreshing for him to find out for the first time, while in court, that the out-spoken National Women's Organizer of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), Anita De Soso was his close relative.
