The 12th Annual Unique Trust Tafo Open Golf Tournament took an exciting turn when the closing ceremony had to be delayed for a sudden death rule to decide the winner of the men’s scratch.
Kofi Yeboah of Tafo CRIG Golf Club at the end won the day with 6-4 holes against Osei Kwabina of Kumasi Royal Golf Club who took the second position while Godwin Sai of Achimota Golf Club played 141 gross to win the third position.
In the men’s handicap, Samuel Franklin Essuman of Takoradi Golf Club played a net of 139 to win the trophy on a count back against Felix Quarshie of Tafo CRIG Golf Club who also played a net of 139.
E. T. Mensah of Tema Country Golf Club played a net of 40 to pick the trophy for the third position.
In the women’s scratch event, Mishida Mensah of Kumasi Royal Club scored a gross of 170 to win the trophy for the event while Grace Afriyie of Tema Country Golf Club scored 178 gross and went on to win on count back after defeating the defending champion, Mona Captain to third place.
In the women’s handicap, Felicity Okyei-Gyeabour of Kumasi Royal Golf Club played a net of 153 to win the first position, Florence Etwi-Barimah of Tema Country Golf Club played a net of 156 for the second position and Betty Richard of Kumasi Golf Club Royal played a net of 161 to place third.
In the youth division, it was an all Tafo CRIG Golf Club affair as they swept the three first trophies for the division with Christian Imbeh playing a net of 62 holes to pick the first position, Gyimah Yahaya played a net of 70 while Nana Yeboah also played a net of 72 to pick the trophy for the third position.
The tournament attracted 17 ladies for the two day tournament with 62 men entering for the men’s event.
