ModernGhana journalist, Emmanuel Britwum, showed police "visible signs" of assault after he was arrested by national security operatives. A police complaint form captures this testimony when he reported June 27. The journalist is at the centre of controversy after he said he was coached on Tuesday, July 2 at the Ministry’s police station in Accra to make allegations of assault. That was the date lawyers assembled by the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) and supported by an NGO first met to represent the journalist. By sunset, a press conference by the GJA on Wednesday, July 3 condemned the incident. But he got new legal counsel who issued a statement denying the assault. And on Saturday, July 6 he issued a statement that he had been coached at the police station. However, fresh details show five clear days before meeting the GJA-backed lawyers, the journalist had told the police at Legon in Accra, he was assaulted. He filed that report without any lawyer and was accompanied by the manager of the company, his brother and his editor Emmanuel Ajarfor who has maintained he was assaulted.
