The recent seizure of an Iranian oil tanker ‘Grace 1’ now ‘Adrian Darya 1’ by the UK off Gibraltar waters on the orders of the United States has escalated tensions between the US and Iran, albeit the Gibraltar authority has released the vessel. In a ramboesque move, Iranian forces also seized a UK oil vessel ‘Stenoa Impero’ on the Strait of Hormuz in retaliation but was also released.
