A video circulating on social media platforms gives some details about how the prime suspect in the murder of two police officers, was arrested at Atimpoku.
Eric Duah was said to be heading to an unknown destination in the Volta Region before a police operations team accosted him and other occupants in a black golf car on Saturday, August 31.
In the said video, Duah was forced to lie on the ground with his face downwards in handcuff while another suspect also in handcuff, was led into a police vehicle under heavy guard.
The video gives a rare inside story of how the Ghana police service handled a suspect who is alleged to have taken the life of a cop.
According to the information from the police, “policemen detailed on duty at Atimpoku Bridge were alerted to arrest occupants of a black Golf car with registration number GW 5972-18 heading towards Volta region”.
He is alleged to have fatally shot two police officers - Sergeant Michael Dzamesie and Lance Corporal Awal Mohammed- who were on traffic duty at Gomoa Buduburam in the Central Region last Wednesday.
Eric Kojo Duah and his accomplices -Ibrahim Zakariah, Isaac Mensah, Obletey Commey, Victor Yire and Fatawu Ahmed- who appeared in court on Monday, have been charged with conspiracy to commit murder, abetment of murder and murder.
