The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has reached an agreement with Carlos Queiroz for the Portuguese coach to continue as head coach of the Black Stars.

The announcement comes a few weeks after Queiroz’s previous mandate, which included leading Ghana at the just-concluded FIFA World Cup, came to an end.

According to the GFA, discussions between the coach, the Association and the Ministry of Sports and Recreation resulted in an agreement for Queiroz to take up a new coaching mandate.

His new tenure will commence with the upcoming international window.

The GFA said Queiroz’s extensive international experience, technical expertise and knowledge of the Black Stars made him the preferred choice to lead the team into the next phase of its programme.

“The GFA believes Queiroz’s extensive international experience, technical expertise and knowledge of the Black Stars position him strongly to lead the team into this next chapter,” the Association said in a statement on Wednesday, September 2.

The football governing body did not disclose the duration or specific terms of the new mandate.

It said further details about Queiroz’s new assignment and the Black Stars’ upcoming programme would be announced in due course.

The coach will now turn his attention to preparing the team for its next international engagements as the GFA seeks to build what it described as a successful new phase for Ghana on the international stage.
