Four children are reported drowned in a stream at Breman UGC in Kumasi, the Ashanti Region capital.
They were said to have gone swimming when the tragedy occurred.
Residents say volunteers retrieved the bodies from the water and rushed them to Old Tafo Government Hospital.
Though residents cannot readily identify the victims, all males, they are convinced they could have come from nearby Pankrono Abed.
They put the age of the eldest among them at about 14.
According to Luv FM reports, neither police nor hospital authorities could be reached for confirmation.
