Kpone Bawaleshie Town XI pipped their Nanoman counterparts 1-0 in a special football match to lift a magnificent trophy and cash played at Nanoman on New Year’s Day.
The match which was played on home and away basis saw Bawaleshie being the first winners of the trophy in the annual affair when they won the first match 1-0 with the return encounter ending goalless.
The Nanoman team was so determined to make a change and carry the day that they included a number of "guest players", but try as they did they were held in check by some of the seasoned division one players including George Nodi, Nii John and Gbli Kanor.
Nii Laryea Afotey-Agbo, Member of Parliament for Kpone-Katamanso later presented the trophy to skipper Osa Mensah of Bawaleshie to spark off a float of enthusiastic supporters from the park to the Bawaleshie township.
In a related development the Bawaleshie Cards Club were on target to annex a second trophy when they won the cards contest 2-0 on a home and away basis.
Afotey-Agbo commended the two Assembly Members of the two communities, Mr Jonathan Okunor and Emmanuel Hammond for their exemplary peace-building efforts and promised to extend more sponsorship to them this year.
Some of the other sponsors of the events included Mr Okoe Charway and Mr Narh Okunor, both citizens of Bawaleshie ably supported by Royal Sounds Spinners.
