The maiden Ghana Sanitation Awards will take place in December 2019.
The initiative is the first to recognise efforts of the government, individuals and organisations in the sanitation industry.
In a statement Wednesday, Oya! Communications Limited, organisers of the event noted the awards would motivate the stakeholders in the sector to do more in a bid to make Ghana one of the cleanest countries in Africa.
“The Ghana Sanitation Awards is in recognition of sanitation and hygiene achievements in the country,” the statement added.
The maiden award has five categories namely, Leadership/Ministerial Award; Technical Innovation Award; NGO/Civil Society Award; Advocacy Award; Sanitation Personality of the Year; and Sanitation Media Station of the Year.
According to the organisers, “interested persons may nominate themselves or other individuals or institutions that fit into the various categories.”
“Nominations should include the name and contact details of the nominee, and a short statement (no more than 500 words) about their work and why they deserve the award and be sent to ghanasanitationawards@outlook.com.”
“The nominees must be involved in sanitation and hygiene-related activities in Ghana,” the statement continued, adding the deadline for submission of nominations is November 30, 2019.
“Entries will be reviewed by a technical committee of experts and judged by a panel of eminent sector leaders and the winners announced in mid-December at an award ceremony held in Accra, Ghana.”
The maiden Ghana Sanitation Awards has been scheduled for Saturday, December 28, 2019 in Accra.
