The Convention People’s Party (CPP) flag bearer, Dr Paa Kwesi Nduom on Tuesday appealed to Ghanaians to vote for the party in Election 2008 to enable it to end the high rate of unemployment.
He said the party when voted into power would rehabilitate factories like the Kumasi Jute Factory; Pwalugu Tomato Factory; Asutuare Sugar Factory and neglected state hotels such as the Meridian; Atlantic and Ambassador Hotels in Tema, Takoradi and Accra, in that order, to offer employment to the country’s youth.
Dr Nduom was addressing supporters of the Party at Nkawkaw as part of his Eastern Regional campaign tour, which had taken him to Krobo Odumase; Kpong; Asesewa and Anyinam.
He said Ghanaians had tasted the reign of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the New Patriotic Party (NPP) for the past fifteen years, and both had failed them and, therefore urged them to vote for the CPP to save the country from further deterioration.
Dr Nduom noted that most factories and hotels being rehabilitated by the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Government such as the Kumasi City Hotel was constructed by the CPP under the leadership of Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, First President of the Republic of Ghana, which subsequent governments failed to maintain.
He, therefore, advised Ghanaians to give the CPP a chance to lead the nation to enhance the country’s socio-economic development.
The Eastern Regional Chairman of the party, Mr Seth Mpare said Dr Nduom was the youngest among the Flag Bearers and would initiate good policies to provide employment for the youth.
The Adehyehene, Nana Asante Ampadu thanked Dr Nduom for being the first flag bearer to introduce himself to them and said they would pray for him to win Election 2008.
