The Brong Ahafo Regional Minister, Ignatius Baffour Awuah has called on the public to be politically tolerant during this election period in order to uphold the peace in the country.
The Minister, who was speaking at a ceremony to commission a mosque at Sankore in the Asunafo South District, observed that the December elections, was very crucial and as such much would be expected of the citizenry to maintain law and order.
He noted that it was about time sympathizers of political parties came to terms with the fact that their opposing views or ideologies do not make them enemies.
He urged all and sundry to be careful about their diction during and after the elections since the usage of bad language could lead to strife.
Baffour Awuah also urged Muslim parents to endeavour to give their children quality education to make them not only vested in Arabic avd Quranic knowledge but general issues as well.
He said this would make their wards formidable products and marketable in all spheres of life.
He observed that though government has made basic education free, girls' enrolment still leaves much to be desired, and therefore called on parents not to discriminate against their children who are girls but equally enroll them for a brighter future.
The Iranian Ambassador, Valiollah Mahammadi urged the beneficiary community to take good care of the mosque.
The DCE for the area, George Yaw Boakyi expressed appreciation to the Iranian government for the gesture, and reminded Muslims that the Islamic religion was founded on truth and peace.
The Chief Imam of Akrodea, who is also the DCE of Asunafo North, Alhaji Ishak Bonsu also reiterated the need for tolerance anst peace.
Using the Kenyan situation as an example, the Chief Imam said strife only negates progress, noting that peace was a vital component in the development of a country like Ghana.
The MP for the area, Eric Opoku, through whose initiative the mosque was built at a cost of $30,000, was grateful to the Iranian government for the favour done his constituents.
He called on his community members to make truth their watchdog in whatever activity they would undertake.
