Gospel trio, Daughters of Glorious Jesus, has cautioned individuals and groups who do renditions of their songs without consulting them to stop that practice.
According to the seasoned musicians made up of Cynthia Agyare Appiadu, Monica Owusu Ansah and Edna Agyare Sarpong who celebrated 30 years in the industry last year, it is not appropriate for people to just take their songs and do renditions without going through the right channels.
“We have seen on YouTube countless times how some people deliberately take our songs and do renditions without seeking permission from us."We have been quiet for some time now but not anymore, we are prepared to deal with anyone who takes our songs and does whatever they want with them.
“Most of the time the lyrics in those renditions are wrong and others also sing the songs so badly. If you think writing songs is that simple why don’t you write your own songs,” the trio said. ‘Daughters’ were speaking at a media event at the Bay View Village, Atomic Junction, Accra on Tuesday, January 11, to reveal their plans for 2020. The group also used the opportunity to premiere their latest song Y'aseda Dwom. The talented musicians also spoke about their book, Our Story, which they launched in September last year. Our Story is a true story about the trio; the challenges, the failed promises and their triumphs. On their activities for 2020, Daughters of Glorious Jesus said they will be continuing their nationwide tour and will complete it by year’s end. They also disclosed that they will be visiting different orphanages to put smiles on the faces of the less privileged.
Daughters also promised to be more visible on social media.“When we started there was nothing like social media but now everything is social media. We promise our fans they are going to have more of us on social media,” they said.
