Mr. Daniel Dugan, Deputy Minister of Women and Children’s Affairs (MWCA) has called on Christians to discard the notion that ‘politics was a dirty game’ as politics and Christianity aim at improving people’s welfare.
Mr Dugan said it was unfortunate that Ghanaians believe that politics was not a place for Christians as according to him “the goals of Christianity is about the same as politics”.
He said while Christianity aimed at the salvation of mankind, politics and good policies aimed at the ultimate welfare of the citizenry.
The Deputy Minister made the call over the weekend when he launched the ‘Christian Journal’, a newspaper written by Christians to address all issues concerning every sector of the country.
Appealing to Christians not to shy away from politics, he stated that “when we have good Christians in the helm of affairs of politics then we are guaranteed of relative peace, harmony and economic and social success of the nation”.
He urged the editorial board of the Christian Journal to publish the ideologies of all Christian churches and possibly other religious bodies in Ghana for all to respect the different perceptions of religion in order to be tolerant of each other.
Mr Daniel Osei Ammpah, Chief Executive Officer of Christian Journal said the weekly newspaper covers health, politics, education and entertainment, among others.
He said the Journal aimed at educating the youth and Christians to understand their importance in the country for them to take up their responsibilities in developing the nation.
Mr Ammpah further stated that articles published in the newspaper would also be featured on their website which has been operating for the past one year.
