Pastor William Ofori-Attah, Apam District Pastor of the Church of Pentecost, has appealed to politicians to allay the people's fears by assuring them that the December elections would be violence free.
“Politicians should not portray the 2008 elections as a ‘life or death’ affair as our democracy has matured above merely fomenting trouble”.
Preaching a sermon at a joint service of four branches of the Church in Apam on the theme: "God will render justice on your behalf", Pastor Ofori-Attah urged politicians to allow God to take control of the elections, "since it is only God who nominates a leader.”
He said Ghana was an anointed country and that any politician who attempted to destroy it would face the wrath of God.
"Election 2008 will prove the difference between our country and others," the pastor stated.
Pastor Ofori-Attah urged the Media Commission to impose sanctions on any media house, which would deliberately publish or broadcast fabricated stories just to tarnish the image of perceived political opponents.
He advised Ghanaians to be their “brothers’ keepers” by avoiding such social vices as destroying opponents through false accusations, gossiping, stealing and other crimes.
