The Elephants of Ivory Coast confirmed their supremacy in the tournament by walloping Guinea five goals to nil, joining Ghana for the semi-final berth.
After showing so much promise in the second half and controlling the game, the Guinean side simply ran out of ideas and were punished for the lack of experience.
The Ivorians allowed them to do all the playing while they (Ivory Coast) did all the scoring which was what mattered.
The Elephants were tipped to win the second quarter-final match of the day except that many did predict such a massive defeat by the Guineans given their performance at the group stages.
Indeed those who predicted Ivory Coast to lift must have it right at least for now, because Ghana's performance must be making some football analysts revise their notes.
With Chelsea striker, Didier Drogba and Solomon Kalou, in superb shape, the Ivorians could not have performed less.
It is fair to state that regardless of the high scores in the second match, it lacked the drama that characterized the Ghana-Nigeria match.
On Monday Tunisia will lock horns with Cameroun, while the defending champions, Egypt take on Angola.
