A Member of a Military/Police Timber Taskforce on operation at Odoben in the Asikuma-Odoben-Brakwa District is alleged to have shot Razak Iddrisu 30, a driver from Odoben conveying sawn-timber from the bush.
A police source at Odoben told Ghana News Agency that the two-member taskforce, a policeman and soldier surrendered to the police after the incident and have been sent to Central Regional Police Headquarters for investigations.
It said on February 22, this year, the taskforce arrested Iddrisu and another person and ordered them to report at Odoben Police Station but on their way the vehicle developed some fault.
The source said after sometime Iddrisu managed to repair the truck and while being pushed to ignite the engine, a member of the taskforce thought the suspects were attempting to escape and shot them killing Iddrisu instantly.
The corpse has been deposited at the Central Regional Hospital mortuary for autopsy.
