The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has finalised documents to secure clemency for Kwabena Kankam the Ghanaian on death row in Libya for the murder of his fellow Ghanaian Isaac Oppong.Kankam is one of five Ghanaians on death row for murder in Libya. Four have already been executed.Officials of the Ministry and families of the convict and victim are said to be at the Supreme Court of Ghana to have documents signed for onward submission to Libyan authorities through their Embassy in Ghana.According to Sharia law, by which Kankam was tried and found guilty, if family members of a victim, grants a convict pardon by applying to the authorities, a convict could be freed.According to information from Libya, Kankam could be executed tomorrow, Friday February 29, 2008, making the finalisation of the documents very urgent.
