One of the railway workers who was kidnapped and flogged by fellow workers for not taking part in a strike action has returned to work.Mr. Paul Afful Dadzie, who is the deputy Financial Controller of the Ghana Railway Company Ltd. (GRCL) in Sekondi was kidnapped with Mr Abaka Amoah, the Public Relations Officer (PRO). The two suffered lacerations on their hands, backs and necks form the assault.The police are investigating the matter.When Joy News called Mr. Dadzie, he said he was at the bank transacting business on behalf of the company.He told Joy News that he will continue to do his job when he is so assigned by his superiors.No one has been arrested yet.Meanwhile, the National Labour Commission is holding a meeting with officials and staff of the GRCL to find a solution to the current crisis.At the heart of discussions is the demand for better working conditions and salary by the workers.In an interview with Joy News, the Managing Director of the GRCL, Mr. Rufus Quaye was hopeful that the impasse would be resolved soon so that the workers will get back to work, because the company is losing lots of income already.He said, he feared that the company could possibly lose its biggest customer, the Ghana Manganese Company Ltd. (GMCL). According to Mr. Quaye, the manganese company is already looking for a new company to transport manganese that has been held up at its premises.He says if the GRCL loses the contract with the GMCL, it will be disastrous for the company’s future.
