Brong-Ahafo Region is one of the areas noted for the cultivation of Indian hemp in the country, according to the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP) James Oppong-Boanuh.
The Regional Police Commander who disclosed this in an interview with the Ghana News Agency mentioned Nsowkor, capital of Tain District as the den of ‘wee’ farmers in the region.
“There is no hamlet in the region that you will go and never find a wee spot, which is very unfortunate”, DCOP Oppong-Boanuh said.
He called on the general public to provide the police with the necessary information to help apprehend the culprits.
DCOP Oppong-Boanuh said the Regional Police Command had mounted an intensive operation to flush out people with questionable characters and help minimize the crime wave in the region.
“Even though apprehending the perpetrators seems insurmountable, plans are in the pipeline to help us in our operation to achieve success”, he added.
The Regional Commander said the security agencies were ready to protect lives and property and gave the assurance that his outfit would continue to guarantee the confidentiality of informants.
DCOP Oppong-Boanuh implored other security agencies to contribute their quota tremendously in helping to halt drug abuse and peddling particular among the youth in the region.Source: GNA
