A Kumasi circuit court has remanded two women and a 14-year-old girl in prison custody for conspiracy to steal and stealing 19 million cedis belonging to Madam Cecilia Lamptey, a trader.
Afua Gyimah and Abena Fremah, middle-aged unemployed, pleaded guilty and not guilty respectively to the charges and will re-appear on February 13.
The girl, who pleaded guilty was convicted and remitted to the Ash-Town Juvenile court for sentence.
Police Chief Inspector Alice Ansah, prosecuting told the court, presided over by Mr Kwabena Adutwum Mmorosah that in December last year, the complainant engaged the services of the girl and was put in-charge of the house and the shop.
The prosecution said the two women who lived close to the house on separate occasions managed to convinced the girl to steal the 19 million cedis to enable them to purchase sewing machine and other items for her.
The complainant later detected the theft and made a report to the police. The girl then mentioned Afua Gyimah and Abena Fremah as her accomplices.
They were then arrested and after investigation charged with the offence.
