Ground-breaking ceremonies have taken place to officially indicate commencement of work on 24-billion cedi road projects for the Kadjebi and Jasikan districts at separate functions, on Friday.
Mustek Engineering Limited was executing the 7.3-kilometre Kadjebi-Dzindzinso road project that would cost 18.1-billion cedis, with funding from the Ghana Road Fund.
Danbort Company Limited was constructing the six-kilometre Jasikan-Bodada road that would cost about 5.9-billion cedis, with financial support from the International Development Agency.Mr Kofi Dzamesi, Volta Regional Minister, who performed the ceremonies at Kadjebi in the Kadjebi District and Bodada in the Jasikan Districts respectively, said road projects at the cost of 550 billion cedis, were being executed at various levels of construction in the region, since 2005.He said "The region, therefore, tops the lists of government's expenditure on road construction projects currently in the country."
Notable among them, he said were the Sogakope-Adidome-Ho-Fume, Sogakope-Aflao and district capitals road projects.
Mr Dzamesi said this was an attestation of government's avowed principle of equity in the distribution of national resources irrespective of voting patterns, ethnicity or creed.
He said government's gesture in this vein, further demonstrated that it was in touch with the masses and the underprivileged in the society.
The Regional Minister urged the people to support government to enable it realize its goals towards reducing poverty, ignorance and disease.
Mr Kofi Adjei Ntim, Kadjebi District Chief Executive, said the district was benefiting from over 75 billion cedis road projects, adding that good roads and transport system were important for socio-economic development.Mr Solomon Kwame Donkor, Jasikan District Chief Executive, gave the assurance that the Government would not disappoint the people in the distribution of the national cake.GNA
